Although the Journal of Solar Energy Engineering (JSEE) has published special issues on wind energy before, this is the first since November 1996. After experiencing first hand the work involved in publishing this issue, I can certainly understand why they are not published more often. Seriously, I hope this will be the first of many annual issues on wind energy, each highlighting the current work in wind energy research that is presented at the annual ASME Wind Energy Symposium. That is not to say that these issues will contain only papers presented at the Symposium—any wind energy paper completing the JSEE review process by June may be included. I invite all of you to submit contributions—technical papers, technical briefs, discussion articles, or photographs (Solar Scenery)—on any aspect of wind energy.
