The anti-wear and extreme pressure (EP) properties of several lubricant additives in base oil were investigated on four-ball friction and wear tester. The worn surface morphologies of the steel ball specimens were observed and analyzed with SEM and XPS. Ring-block friction and wear tester simulated Archimedes worm gear transmission. Steel/steel pairs were investigated in ring-block tester. Steel Archimedes worm gear replace copper Archimedes worm gear were investigated on opened-circuit test rigs with synthesizing Archimedes steel worm gear running-in lubricants and steel Archimedes steel worm gear lubricants.
